True story… an actual dream I had...
South and I were wandering the distorted Escheresque city. Tall buildings to either side of us. narrow alleys, and numerous skyways and byways soaring above us. The city was totally quite, the roads and highways devoid of any traffic. A few pigeons flying here and there, alighting on windowsills and rooftop edges. Eventually, we found the house. A huge building with gigantic folds of fabric draped about it, flapping gently in the morning (or was it evening) breeze. We entered. To the right was a gymnasium sized room where we found an old friend and singer (Mr. Larry, we knew him as) teaching some kind of yoga, or perhaps a ballet to around thirty or forty students give or take. He nodded to us and indicated for us to head into the next room where we found a stairway. At the top of the stairs, we U-turned to a long hallway, at the end of which was a door to the left. We entered. In the far corner we found North sleeping under a blanket in a reclining chair. We woke him up. He was quite surprised and happy to see us. Then I woke up in my bed in Brooklyn at around three o'clock in the morning. It had all been a dream. I fell back to sleep. later that day I received word that our friend North had passed into the next realm. I was very sad to find out this news. I immediately called South and told him of the dream. After speaking at length about some of good times we'd head, I hung up the phone and began trying to capture a rough sketch of the dream on paper. This this was the result.
drawn with pencil on paper, photographed, then finished off digitally.
The man himself...
Pretty trippy, I must say.
