Segar meets Lovecraft

"...poised upon the brink of nameless terrors..."
from The Horror at Red Hook by HP Lovecraft

On the Winter Solstice, I turn 49.
But next year, in 2007, I'll be hitting the half century mark!
To commemorate next year's milestone, I will be getting this done on my right arm at some point in the coming months.
It will be my first tattoo.

UPDATE May 22, 2010
It's being priced right now, and will be gracing my arm in the next couple weeks or so.

UPDATE 2 April 21, 2012
Still haven't gotten it, yet....

That's a top-class tattoo!! I plan on skipping my 40s altogether. I reckon 50's a much cooler age! Can't wait, but I'm in no hurry ;-)

But you want it to look good, don't you? The more time wasted, the more time your body ages on you.

I have been banned by all motorcycle manufacturers and owners from ever riding.
I have utterly failed to grasp the technique of shifting gears, resulting in loads of unwanted grinding!

Upper right arm.
I picked my right arm, because that's where it would seem to show best when playing guitar!
Also, I learned by watching Miami Ink that if an image is of any kind of animal or face, that it should face forward on the body, if going on an arm or leg.
That made a lot of sense to me so I designed it to face forward on my right arm
Now, if this were the regular Popeye, and not my alternate universe HP Lovecraft Popeye,
It would be his left eye opened and his right eye closed,
so if this image were to be flipped for use on the left arm, the eyes would have to be switched.
Then again, I don't know how many people will catch the Lovecraft reference unless they know the quote.

I actually took a photo of my arm with a piece of paper taped to it marking a one inch measurement so that I could scale the photo and art together and design it to fit exactly where I wanted it.

Hee Hee (yoo freak!) If you really want to have some fun ... grab a piece of the ol' ';purple' Gel paper (they used to use it for school ditto machines) & Make a stencil with some tracing paper & put 'er on (you have to rub your arm down with 'clear' deodorant first so's it will stick) =D

It would look really plain without the shading.
But actually, when I go to get the tat, I plan on taking both
a shaded and a non-shaded version.
